As they say, economics is downstream of culture. The Left has noiselessly worked for over half a century to capture education, popular culture, and media; in all liberal democracies of the world, including India. The result is that citizens in these democracies are increasingly ready to trade Freedom for Freebies. Freedom requires sacrifice for its attainment and for its safety. Its surrender brings freebies in the short run. Of course in the long run it leads to slavery, but voters think of here and now, duly guided along by the Leftists in the media.
